The search for Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan is proving a fruitless one. Rumours persist that the terrorist leader has escaped into Pakistan, but Zahid Hussain, The Times correspondent in Islamabad, says they have no basis.

I don't think he is in Pakistan. The only reason this issue has attracted renewed interest is because one of the defence ministers in Kabul has said that he is. It's in Afghanistan's interests for the Americans to think that Osama bin Laden is elsewhere, but there really isn't any evidence. Full Story...
