In an apparent gesture of reconciliation, China said Thursday that it welcomed visits by members of Taiwan's ruling party, which was previously shunned by Beijing.

China distrusts and has largely ignored the Democratic Progressive Party, which rejects Beijing's goal of the unification of mainland China and much smaller Taiwan. China and Taiwan split amid civil war in 1949, but Beijing still regards the island as part of its territory. Full Story...
