North Korea may have fired a laser at an American helicopter as it flew on a training mission along the heavily fortified frontier that divides the Korean Peninsula, a US official said today.

No one was hurt and no equipment was damaged in the incident, he said.

"Two USFK (United States Forces Korea) pilots during a routine training mission in March were alerted by onboard laser detecting equipment that laser systems may have illuminated their aircraft," he said.
